Troops arrest female ammunition courier linked to Bello Turji in Zamfara
Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have apprehended a 25-year-old suspected female ammunition courier, Shamsiyya Ahadu, in Zamfara State.
The arrest, disclosed in a statement on Sunday by the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, took place on December 28 in the Badarawa area of Shinkafi Local Government Area.
Ahadu, along with her accomplice, a motorcyclist named Ahmed Husaini, was intercepted while transporting 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines reportedly intended for the camp of notorious terrorist kingpin Bello Turji.
The operation was prompted by intelligence reports tracking the movement of terrorist logistics along the Kware-Badarawa route. In response, troops established a roadblock, leading to the successful arrest of the suspects.
“Both suspects are currently undergoing investigation by appropriate authorities.”
It reiterated the commitment of the troops to dismantling all terrorist networks as well as prevent illegal movement of arms and ammunition within its theatre of operation.
“Members of the public are therefore urged not to relent in their efforts at providing credible information that would lead to the arrest of wanted terrorists and their collaborators.”
The statement appreciated the sustained local support it is enjoying from the people towards the fulfilment of the operation’s mandate.
