Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad is a seasoned educationist, gender advocate, and consultant, recently appointed as the Minister of State for Education by President Bola Tinubu.

She currently lectures at Bayero University, Kano, and serves as the Director of the Centre for Gender Studies.

Over the years, Dr. Suwaiba has played pivotal roles at the university, such as Level Coordinator, Examination Officer, Postgraduate Coordinator, Sub Dean Academics, and Head of the Department of Science Education.

1. Experienced Educationist:  With over 17 years of experience in education, Dr. Suwaiba has made significant contributions to academia as a lecturer at Bayero University, Kano.

2. Director of Gender Studies: She leads the Centre for Gender Studies at Bayero University, focusing on promoting gender equality and advocating for women’s rights.

3. Diverse Academic Leadership: Dr. Suwaiba has held several leadership roles within Bayero University, demonstrating her versatility in academic administration.

4. Advocate for Gender Equity: Her advocacy work is dedicated to promoting gender-sensitive policies and equitable opportunities for women in education and beyond.

5. Consultancy Expertise: Dr. Suwaiba has served as a consultant in governance, political economy, policy planning, and capacity building, working with renowned organizations like the British Council.

6. Research Contributions: She has been involved in several research projects, including leading a British Council-funded project in 2015.

Her work extends to collaborations with the Education Data, Research and Evaluation in Nigeria (EDOREN) and PERL.
