In a shocking development, Patrick Aghamba, the Commissioner for Youths Development in Anambra State, and his wife have reportedly been kidnapped while en route to Abuja.

According to sources, the incident occurred on Friday as they were traveling to attend the wedding of Adaora, the daughter of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, scheduled for Saturday.

Details of the kidnapping are still emerging, but it is confirmed that the commissioner’s aide, identified as ABK Offiah, was tragically killed during the abduction. The location of the incident has not been officially confirmed, but sources suggest it took place in Edo State.

A top government official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident, expressing deep concern over the safety of the commissioner and his wife.

This incident has sent shockwaves through Anambra State, particularly as it involves a high-ranking government official. The kidnapping underscores the ongoing security challenges in the country, with many calling for urgent action to ensure the safe return of the commissioner and his wife.

The source said, “Yes, we are aware the incident happened. The state government will react to the development soon. Sources said the commissioner was on his way to Abuja to attend a function.

“No information yet concerning the situation, as no one has reached out to any of the family members or the state government yet, until he is released we will know exactly what happened.”

On why the commissioner did not go by flight, the source could not give further details.

Meanwhile, the state police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the command heard about the information and escalated the incident to other state commands for possible action as the incident did not happen in Anambra.
