BREAKING: Ekiti court grants Dele Farotimi N30 Million bail, list other conditions
A Magistrate Court in Ekiti State has granted N30 million bail and two sureties with houses or similar assets to human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi, who had been in custody at a correctional facility in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
Farotimi arrived at the court on Friday morning at 9:45 am, transported in a prison van with a police escort.
He stepped out of the vehicle to a cheering crowd and acknowledged their support by raising his hands in gratitude.
The activist, whose book on Mr Babalola’s corrupt influence on the Nigerian judiciary has made a global bestseller, was also ordered to submit his international passport as part of the bail conditions, which other social critics, including Omoyele Sowore, have condemned.
Details about the charges against him and further legal proceedings remain awaited.
