BREAKING: Explosion rocks popular market in Yobe

An explosion, suspected to be a planted Improvised Explosive Device (IED), has detonated at the popular Buni Yadi market in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Ali Hassan, a resident of Buni, told Channels Television that the incident occurred around 12:30 PM on Friday, injuring a girl.

Captain Muhammad Shehu, the spokesman for the Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed the incident. He stated that another IED planted in the market was discovered and successfully detonated by the Army.

He further explained that the only victim of the explosion is currently receiving treatment at a health facility in Buni Yadi. He emphasized that the incident involved a planted IED and was not a suicide bombing.

Buni Yadi, located 54 kilometers from Damaturu, the state capital, was the worst-hit local government area in Yobe State under Boko Haram control for two years.
