Fuel Price: No sane Nigerian will vote Tinubu in 2027 – Islamic scholar

Prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Aliyu Ibrahim, has voiced his frustration over the recent increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as petrol.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL)** recently raised the price from N617 to N897 per litre, sparking widespread unrest across the nation as transportation fares and prices of goods and services soar.

In a viral video, Sheikh Ibrahim expressed his dismay, labeling the price hike as “madness” and warning that it could negatively affect President Bola Tinubu’s re-election prospects in 2027.

He emphasized that no rational individual would support the president’s bid for a second term, given the drastic rise in fuel costs.

“The hike in PMS price is a total madness, whoever advised the president to do this is mad,” Ibrahim remarked, adding, “This is yet another sign that Tinubu would lose his re-election bid because no sane person would vote for those who took the PMS price from N180 to N1,000.”

The scholar’s remarks come amidst growing dissatisfaction with the current economic challenges in the country.
