Gunmen attack RSS facility in Abia, kill female detainee

Gunmen attacked the Police Rapid Response Squad facility at Owerrinta on the Umuahia-Aba Expressway in Abia State, resulting in the death of a female detainee.

The incident, which occurred shortly after midnight on Monday, was confirmed by Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa.

According to Isa, the assailants arrived in three Hilux vehicles and launched an assault on the facility, using dynamite to blow off the roof in an attempt to release detainees.

During the attack, they opened fire, tragically killing a female suspect who was reportedly detained on child trafficking allegations.

The police successfully repelled the attackers, and one suspect was later arrested using “technical methods.”

The arrested individual is currently under interrogation, as police work to identify additional accomplices involved in the assault.
