JTF uncovers shallow graves, arms operated by IPOB, ESN in Imo

The Joint Security Task Force in Imo State, also known as Operation Udoka, has uncovered shallow graves in Aku Community, Okigwe Local Government Area, allegedly used by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), to bury their victims.

During a clearance operation, security operatives recovered:

Stolen vehicles

Arms, ammunition, and explosive devices

20 suspects, now in police custody

Security Assessment:

Brigadier-General Usman Lawal, Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade, led an assessment tour of the area alongside the State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, and the Governor’s Special Adviser on Security, Joseph Ogbonna. Lawal emphasized that the raid is part of ongoing efforts to end insecurity in Imo State, with the support of the state government.

He called on community members to collaborate with security agencies to sustain peace and stability.

The Aku community, which borders Abia State, has been plagued by criminal activities, including kidnapping and killings, allegedly linked to IPOB. Security operatives believe the recent operation will restore normalcy, especially as the festive season approaches.
