JUST-IN: Tension as fire gut section of Eleme Council Secretariat in Rivers

A section of the Eleme Local Government Council secretariat has been set on fire, causing heightened tensions in the area.

Former Ambassador Oji Ngofa, an indigene of Eleme, confirmed the incident during a phone conversation.

The newly elected chairman, Brian Gokpa, arrived at the council secretariat with councilors and supporters only to find parts of the building ablaze.

No arrests have been made so far, and the police are yet to issue a statement on the situation.
