Man City suffer fourth straight defeat, loses 2-1 against Brighton

Manchester City endured a fourth consecutive defeat on Saturday, falling 2-1 to Brighton after initially taking the lead.

This unexpected slump has given Liverpool the opportunity to widen their gap at the top of the Premier League.

Despite Erling Haaland’s 15th goal of the season putting City ahead, Pep Guardiola’s side struggled to defend their advantage.

Brighton substitutes Joao Pedro and Matt O’Riley orchestrated the comeback, with Pedro equalizing after a goalmouth scramble and O’Riley sealing the win with a composed finish.

City’s loss marks a historic downturn for Guardiola, who has never faced four straight defeats in his managerial career.

Having also suffered a League Cup exit to Tottenham and a 4-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League, City’s struggles continue to mount. Liverpool now have the chance to extend their lead atop the table with a victory over Aston Villa at Anfield.
