Manchester United set to appoint Ruben Amorim as new manager

Manchester United are nearing the appointment of Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim as their new head coach, following the recent dismissal of Erik Ten Hag.

The club has reportedly agreed to pay Amorim’s €10 million release clause, securing his move from Sporting Lisbon to Old Trafford.

According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, “Manchester United are set to pay €10m exit clause for Rúben Amorim to become new manager, here we go!”

Sporting Lisbon confirmed that Manchester United officially communicated their intention, and it appears they have already lined up a successor to fill Amorim’s role.

The decision to replace Ten Hag, who led United to a disappointing 14th position in the Premier League, was influenced by a challenging season, capped by a recent 2-1 loss to West Ham.

Ten Hag’s tenure saw only four wins in 14 matches, prompting United’s management to take decisive action despite his recent contract extension in July.

At just 39, Amorim has become one of Portugal’s most promising coaches, known for his tactical flexibility and success in the Portuguese league, making him an appealing choice for the Red Devils.

In the interim, former United player Ruud van Nistelrooy, who served as Ten Hag’s assistant, will step in until Amorim’s official arrival.

Sources close to Van Nistelrooy indicate that he does not wish to assume the managerial role permanently, out of respect for Ten Hag.

Fans at Old Trafford are hopeful that Amorim’s leadership will bring a much-needed fresh perspective and revitalized energy to Manchester United’s season.
