1. Moses Bliss

Moses Bliss Nigerian gospel singer, worship leader, songwriter, and vocal coach Uyoh Enang, better known by his stage name Moses Bliss, is originally from Akwa-Ibom State.

His popular hits include “Too faithful,” “E no dey fall my hand,” “Daddy wey dey pamper,” “Bigger everyday,” and “Darling Jesus.”

He attended the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and was born on February 29, 1995.

Because of his upbeat dance moves and catchy tunes, he has won multiple awards.

2. William Troost Ekong

Prominent Nigerian football player William Paul Troost-Ekong is a celebrated son of Akwa-Ibom State.

He plays for both the Nigeria national team and the Greek Super League club PAOK.

His parents were Dutch and Nigerian, and he was born in the Netherlands on September 1, 1993.

3. Maurice Sam

Maurice Ubonifiok Effiong Sam, also known by his stage name “Maurice Sam,” is a well-known Nigerian actor, businessman, model, and TV personality.

He is best known for his role as Acid in the television series Hustle.

Maurice Sam was born on March 12, in Lagos State but hails from Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

He is a prominent figure in Nigeria’s thriving film industry, Nollywood.

4. Veekee James

Ruth Erikan James, popularly known as Veekee James is a Nigerian fashion designer, gospel singer and entrepreneur from Akwa-Ibom State, Nigeria.

She was born on June 9, 1994, in Nsit Atai LGA of Akwa Ibom State.

She is the founder of Veekee James, a fashion brand and also the convener of Zion Warship, a monthly gospel concert.

In 2021, she was the recipient of the AMVCA for best designer of the year.

In May 2023, she debuted her first single “Nothing Less”.

5. Mercy Macjoe

Mercy Ima Macjoe is a multi-award winning actress, producer, performer, and businesswoman.

She was born on June 20, 1993 in Lagos but has her ancestral roots in Akwa-Ibom State.

She studied mass communication at National Open University, where she earned her second degree.

Her performances in Jenna and Magdalene are her most well-known credits.

She was nominated in 2018 for the City People Awards’ Best Supporting Actress, and in 2019 she won the Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards’ Best Independent Short Film.

6. Ibiwari Etuk

Ibiwari Gift Anietie Etuk, also called Ibwari Etuk, is a rapidly rising Nollywood actress, writer, businesswoman, and brand model who gained recognition for her role in the film The Royal Blind Girl.

She is a native of Etinan LGA in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

She graduated from the University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

7. Keppy Ekpenyong

Keppy Ekpenyong Edet Bassey-Inyang is a Nigerian actor who received a commendation award from the Actors Guild of Nigeria in 2018 for his contributions to Nollywood.

Born on March 21st, in Military Hospital, Yaba, Lagos State but is a native of Akwa-Ibom State.

He studied at the University of Calabar in Cross River State, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in linguistics and also the University of Lagos, where he graduated in 1982 with a master’s degree in international law and diplomacy.

8. Roxy Antak

Edem Roxy Antak is a Nigerian actor and model who hails from the Oron tribe in Akwa-Ibom State, Nigeria.

He gained recognition for his parts in Grey Shadows, Nightmare, and When Love Finds You.

He graduated from the University of Benin with a degree in both mathematics and economics.

He made his acting debut in “Tales By Moonlight” at the tender age of nine. In 2010, he made his professional debut in the television series “Tinsel.”

9. Carolina Danjuma

Caroline Uduak Abasi Ekanem Hutchings Danjuma, better known by her stage name Caroline Danjuma, is a well-known Nollywood actress, model, and philanthropist.

She was born on June 26, 1980, in Uyo, in the southern Nigerian state of Akwa Ibom.

She attended University of Calabar in Cross River State, Nigeria where she earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental protection management, geography, and regional planning.

10. Nathaniel Bassey

Another famous son of Akwa-Ibom State is Nathaniel Bassey.

His songs “Imela,” “Onise Iyanu,” and “Olowogbogboro” have made him a well-known Nigerian singer, preacher, trumpet player, and gospel songwriter.

He is dedicated to using his music, which spans a variety of genres and includes worship, hymns, and medleys, to win people over to Christ.

He was born in  LGA on August 27, in Ikot Ofon Ikono. He attended the Middlesex University Summer School in London and is married.
