Nigeria’s Flamingos made a strong start to their U-17 Women’s World Cup campaign, securing a 4-1 victory over New Zealand on Wednesday night.

The team dominated from the outset, with Shakirat Moshood scoring just two minutes into the game with a well-placed shot from inside the box.

Khadijat Adegoke, Fardiat Abdulwahab, and Taiwo Afolabi added to the tally with goals in the 13th, 28th, and 55th minutes, sealing a comprehensive win.

Coach Bankole Olowookere praised the girls’ performance in his post-match interview and urged Nigerians to continue supporting the team. The Flamingos now sit at the top of Group A, awaiting the outcome of other group matches.

Nigeria will face Ecuador in their next match on Saturday, hoping to continue their winning momentum.
