The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed strong disapproval of the local government election held on Saturday in Kaduna State, asserting that the election did not take place.

According to reports from our correspondent, limited voting began as late as 3:30 p.m. in the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna South Local Government. However, PDP spokesperson Maria Dogo dismissed the exercise, stating during a phone interview that there was no election across the state.

She said, “Election materials were taken to local government offices without contacting party agents and there were no result sheets among the materials.

“This is unacceptable and we want to tell the general public that local government election was not held in Kaduna.”

The Chairman of the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM), Hajiya Hajara Mohammed, had reassured the public that the election results would not be manipulated.

She also cautioned politicians to avoid inciting violence or spreading hate speech and urged all political parties to support the commission in ensuring peaceful, credible polls.

79 chairmanship candidates from 10 political parties including APGA, APC, PDP, NNPP, PRP, LP, YPP, ADC, ZLP and AA are expected to participate in the election.
