President Bola Tinubu arrived in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, on Wednesday for a three-day official visit aimed at bolstering bilateral relations.

His arrival at the Presidential Wing of Malabo International Airport at approximately 2:07 pm was marked by a warm reception from Prime Minister Manuela Roka Botey.

The visit, initiated by an invitation from President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea, underscores the growing diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Upon his arrival, President Tinubu participated in a brief welcome ceremony before proceeding to the Presidential Palace, known as People’s Palace Court.

At the People’s Palace, a series of formal events were scheduled, beginning with a welcome ceremony, a family photo session, and a military parade.

These activities were followed by a private meeting between President Tinubu and President Mbasogo, where both leaders discussed critical issues.

The discussions culminated in the signing of bilateral agreements focused on oil and gas, security, and other areas of mutual interest.

Following these formalities, President Tinubu signed the historic visitors’ book, with a press statement to be released shortly after.

The day’s events were set to conclude with a dinner in honor of the visiting delegation.

Accompanying President Tinubu on this important diplomatic mission were key members of his administration, including Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, Defense Minister Abubakar Badaru, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) Ekperikpe Ekpo, Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi.

Also present was Youth Development Minister Jamila Ibrahim-Bio, as well as top executives from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and the Matrix Group, representing Nigeria’s business community, especially in the oil and gas sector.
